Modern Luxury Interior Design
How can homeowners make the interior design of their homes unique to their personality? A couple in their early 30s with two children keenly appreciates luxury and sophistication. Like many couples in Singapore, they wanted a stylish and feng shui-friendly home that reflects their refined tastes. The husband is an IT software professional, and the wife is a partner at a fashion boutique. Plush design features were brought in to create the perfect blend of luxury and functionality, ensuring that every aspect of the design serves a practical purpose.

A royal dark blue wall with timber trimmings transforms the living room into a sophisticated retreat. The post-modern feature wall paired with luxe textures like plush fabrics and a marble effect television wall creates a visually striking space. The two-tier television console offers durability with the black finish grounding the space. Cove lighting was installed beneath the television console and half-height cabinets to enhance the floating effect, making the room appear more spacious and inviting.

The dining area was designed for comfort when the couple hosts. A statement dining table is matched with button-tufted seating, from the plush chairs to the bench seating customised with faux leather cushions. An internal window opens up both spaces visually while keeping the kitchen contained. Adding a black timber trim on the fixed glass panel frames the kitchen view enhances the elegance in the dining space.

A royal purple feature wall was conceptualised to achieve a plush and upscale feel in the master bedroom. The couple selected purple for the feature wall, an auspicious feng shui colour that signifies harmony and attracts wealth. Gold wall sconces serve as elegant bedside lamps, freeing up space on the bedside tables and adding a touch of luxury.
Ample storage space is provided via a full-stretch wardrobe designed with black frames, cream doors and recessed handles. Bevelled edges and a clear mirror with timber trimmings bring it more detail. A suspended wine rack is illuminated to make it visually lighter than a bulky cabinet. The bed area, zoned from the bathroom and dresser, creates a restful environment.

Featuring a sophisticated black and white marble look, the master bathroom is sleek and timeless. Black marble tiles provide a polished look for this master bathroom and make maintenance effortless. For durability and low maintenance, granite surfaces were chosen for the bay window top and vanity countertop. At the same time, mosaic tiles embellish the shower area floor and homogenous tiles deck the dry areas. The choice of these materials ensures the bathroom not only looks elegant but also remains in top condition with minimal upkeep. A large vanity mirror with shallow storage keeps toiletries hidden away, reducing visual clutter and making the bathroom appear larger. Cove lighting beneath the mirror enhances the overall ambience.

The study is designed to accommodate two persons at the same time. The interior design integrates the existing bay window and beam. One end of the study desk rests on a section of the bay window, leaving room for a cosy seating area. Full-height cabinets on the left maximises storage, while wall-hung cabinets above the desk is balanced with a long shelf. Functionality is key. Therefore, study lights were installed under the shelf, and a cable management compartment kept power points and cables out of sight. The study is designed with a clean look in mind, so wooden blinds were installed instead of curtains. The design of the study area was carefully considered to ensure it meets the couple’s needs for a productive and comfortable workspace.
