Modern Luxury Interior Design

Sophisticated, modern, and timeless are the words to describe the luxurious interior design of this apartment located in the city centre of Singapore. For the couple desiring the finer things in life, the design objective was to craft a bespoke design concept. An overhauled layout aimed to downplay the weaknesses of the original layout and enhance its strengths. A material palette of premium dark and light surfaces in matte and glossy finishes conveys a warm and upscale ambience.

Faced with an awkward column at the corner beside the windows and an entrance to the storeroom at the opposite end, the best solution was to reimagine the living room. The wall facing the windows is now a sleek television wall, with wall-to-wall storage solutions cleverly hiding the bulky column. The storeroom entrance blends seamlessly into the custom design features. Dark Venetian blinds complement the black marble-like laminates of the television wall and the dark wood laminates of the storage units. Contemporary furnishings in fabric upholstery add texture and sophistication to the overall aesthetic.

The dry kitchen, fronting the wet kitchen, became an excellent opportunity to make a bold design statement. Grey tinted glass panels replaced the clear glass panels. These enclose the wet kitchen, crafting a striking backdrop for the kitchen island while reducing the visual clutter of the kitchen from the outside. Large-format tiles resembling stone finishes clad the island’s base, turning it into a beautiful centrepiece. A glass door behind the island leads to the wet kitchen. Strategically placed lighting ensures even areas lacking natural light, like the hallway, maintains a perfect balance of ambience and comfort.

A significant design challenge of the dining area was the presence of bulky columns flanking the windows. Half-height storage units now sit beneath the windows to soften these columns. This aesthetic move meets the client’s need for storage solutions and display areas. Stylish lighting fixtures like wall lights and oversized pendant lamps bring flair to the dining space.

Although large and spacious, the master bedroom came with an awkwardly placed wardrobe that made it feel cramped. The new layout needed to address this issue and the giant column in the bedroom. The wardrobe is now tucked behind a television wall, which hides the column. The bedroom feels breezy and open, enhanced by the chamfered ceiling feature above the bed. The warm wood flooring grounds the grey and white wall patterns.

When designing bedrooms, an interior designer must deeply understand the individual’s needs, lifestyle, habits, and life plans. This bedroom was designed to provide a young person with storage solutions and task areas. A slim, customised desk maximises space, and placing the bed farther into the room and away from the door enhances the sense of spaciousness. Niches of various configurations built into the full-height storage solutions further enhances the room’s sense of space.

How can a bathroom feel luxurious and dynamic at the same time? The answer for this space is a corner bathtub. Its angled form merges seamlessly with a shower area in the corner, drawing the eye and adding elegance. An organic elongated vessel sink mirrors the bathtub design. A soft, neutral palette ensures the bathroom retains a sense of openness and spaciousness.
